Reports to: Finance Director, APAC (Functional) & Head of Country (Administrative)
We are seeking a business-oriented Finance professional to lead the accounting and controlling functions for our trading subsidiary in Japan. This role serves as the key finance contact for the local entity, ensuring full compliance with Japan regulations while delivering accurate reporting under IFRS to our headquarters.
Accounting & Compliance
- Lead day-to-day, end-to-end accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in month-end closing and accounts reconciliation.
- Manage statutory tax filings (Corporate Income Tax, Japan Consumption Tax, etc.) and ensure full compliance with local regulatory requirements.
- Consolidate monthly and annual financial statements for the subsidiary. Prepare and consolidate group reporting packages for the subsidiary.
Reporting & Controlling
- Prepare and submit high-quality financial statements (monthly and yearly) to Group on schedule.
- Perform monthly inventory valuation and gross margin analysis specific to trading goods.
- Support the annual budgeting and quarterly rolling forecasts for the entity.
- Reconcile differences between IFRS and Japan Local GAAP on a periodic basis.
- Manage cash planning in close coordination with the corporate treasury team.
- Lead annual Corporate Income Tax (CIT) filings in collaboration with the corporate tax team and external tax agents.
- Support and accelerate local business expansion through partnership.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Act as the key super-user for the ERP finance module; ensure data integrity and optimize workflows.
- Support internal audits and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of progressive finance experience, ideally within a mid-to-large-sized trading or manufacturing organization.
- Strong knowledge of local statutory accounting standards is required; familiarity with IFRS and Japanese GAAP is a plus.
- Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., Infor, SAP, Oracle or similar); hands-on experience in the finance module is a plus.
- Mature, independent, with high integrity and a strong sense of ownership.
- Excellent written and good verbal communication skills in English.
